A luxurious 1950’s mid-century modern home with 5-bedrooms and 5-bathrooms, located in one of Havana’s best neighbourhoods – upper Nuevo Vedado. A corner lot property with great views and natural breeze year around in a quiet up-scale neighbourhood.

This recently restored property is an oasis of refined modern style and comforts rarely found in Havana, boasting large and comfortable bedrooms with the finest mattresses and linens from Canada, each with their own spacious ensuite bathrooms fitted entirely with the best that Grohe and Roca have to offer. Guests can relax throughout the house on authentic imported modern furniture by Mies van de Roe and Le Corbusier or at the stunning rooftop bar and terrace where the hottest of summer nights are cooled by the constant breeze.

To ensure a feeling of security there is a 24-hour guard, 14 monitored indoor and outdoor security cameras, in-room guest security boxes with personalized codes, and an enclosed two-car garage. Upper Nuevo Vedado boasts the title as the “safest neighbourhood in Havana” for both living and for exploring the city.

1954

Paraiso Mid-Century designed by Arq. Antonio Santana Fornaguera for the wife of the mayor of Havana in 1954.

1955

Paraiso Mid-Century built in the newly subdivided neighbourhood of “Alturas de Vedado” by Arq. Antonio Santana.  Santana was the architect of a variety of historic buildings in Havana including the celebrated Torre Olan (1952), a famous Streamline Moderne style building located adjacent to the US Embassy in El Vedado. At the time, Alturas del Vedado was one of Havana’s poshest neighborhoods located adjacent to a tributary gorge of the Almendares River. Terrazzo-floored throughout, the mid-century house was modern, spacious, and airy. Kitty-corner across the street lived Luis Echegoyen, the star of MamaCusa, one of the top-rated comedy shows on Cuban TV, somewhat reminiscent of Jonathan Winters’ "Maude Frickert" character. One block away stood the Mexican Embassy, and two blocks away, the Peruvian Embassy during the 1950’s.

1959

Paraiso Mid-Century acquired after to the 1955 Revolution by Maria Ruiz Cuza.

2018

Paraiso Mid-Century acquired by Karelia Castillo.

2019

Paraiso Mid-Century opens its doors as a casa particular.
